Konrad Freiherr von Wangenheim
Konrad Freiherr von Wangenheim (August 20, 1909 – January 28, 1953 in Stalingrad) was a German horse rider who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics.
In 1936 he and his horse Kurfürst won the gold medal as part of the German eventing team in the team eventing competition after finishing 24th in the individual eventing competition.
An officer of the German army in World War II, von Wangeheim was captured by the Red Army along the Eastern Front in July 1944. Awaiting repatriation to Germany from the Soviet Union like the ten thousand other POW's released the year of von Wangenheim's death, he was found hanged (probably murdered).
He is father of professional fashion photographer Chris von Wangenheim.
